The first impression is the most important impression your home will make on a potential buyer. You may have the most amazing and immaculate home on the inside but if your home looks neglected from the street, potential buyers may drive away without even coming inside! Nothing says neglect like an unmowed lawn, overgrown hedges and trees, dead plants that really need to be cut back or pulled up, rampant weeds, lots of peeling paint, litter and garbage, broken toys etc. etc. I think you get the picture . . . Stand across the street from your house and try to see what your neighbour or a stranger sees. Does it look inviting? Is there so much overgrowth that it would make a perfect haunted house?! Is the fence falling down or has the morning glory taken over?!
If you're not big on garden work, hire someone to cut the lawn and trim the hedges and trees. Don't like to plant flowers? Not a problem. Buy a few potted arrangements to place by the front entry or along the driveway- it will brighten up the entranceway and create a bit of "welcome". And make sure the porch or entryway light is working!
