AILSA BROWN
Ailsa Brown is a contemporary abstract painter and ceramic artist whose work explores the expressive potential of surface and form across canvas, paper, and wheel-thrown or handbuilt clay vessels. Her clean-lined ceramics serve as three-dimensional canvases, echoing the marks and movement of her two-dimensional work.
Inspired by the forests and coastlines of the Pacific Northwest, Ailsa’s art reflects nature’s strength, grace and the sense of belonging it evokes. She studied at the Chelsea School of Art in London and Emily Carr in Vancouver and has over 25 years of teaching experience. She creates her “canvas and clay” work from her Tsawwassen, BC studio, with pieces in collections across Canada and the US.
